More about Norman

It has been my absolute pleasure to spend more than 30 years in Advice, Guidance, Recruitment and International Projects and Partnerships, including working in a number of different colleges and universities before coming to Teesside University in 2018.

I am passionate about providing the best employability services to students and graduates, creating opportunities for all our students to develop their knowledge, skills and experience during their time at University and helping them to be successful in their careers. I am personally committed to helping our students to broaden their horizons and look at opportunities nationally and internationally. I am currently developing international internships and volunteering in different parts of the world.

With a degree in Business Management Jo has worked in the University Sector for over 20 year in various roles including Volunteering, Student Placements, Employer Engagement, HR, Student Recruitment and Admissions.

Curently working within Student Futures as a Student Volunteer Co-ordinator supporting and advising students on their volunteering and work experience journey. Jo works to Promote and match students to a wide range of both career related and fun opportunities, helping co-ordinate Make A Difference Projects.
Jo is committed to anything and everything volunteer and work experience related.

Holding a degree in Applied Languages (French and German) and as a career changer Eimer has 15 years of work experience in varied roles in industry (IT, Retail, Corporate Sales &Training sectors).

A Careers Adviser for 12 years, Eimer has been with Teesside University since 2010 and has developed an in-depth knowledge of the computing, games and animation sectors and developed excellent relationships with a range of companies to enhance the opportunities for students.
Eimer is keen to enable students to develop their own networking skills to help in their career development

Emma Dyson

Emma has been a careers adviser for over 20 years and has worked at the University since 2001. She has a PGCLTHE teaching qualification and is BPS level A-qualified in psychometric testing.

Emma also has extensive experience supporting students into health and social care careers and also with science, engineering and design students.

Jayne Golden

Responsible for managing the Volun-tees project Jayne Supports students in developing employability skills through volunteering and recognition through the Volun-tees Award.

Working University wide to support students from all academic areas, Jayne has been with the University for over 30 years.

Lisa joined Teesside University in 2017 as a Graduate Recruitment Consultant, supporting final year students throughout the recruitment process and into full time graduate level jobs.

Lisa gained a BSc (Hons) Degree in Forensic Psychology, as a mature student at Teesside University and prior to joining the University, worked in varying roles, including as an NVQ assessor (within the hospitality trade), being a self-employed licensee and a car upholsterer for pre 1955 MG cars (predominantly T types)

Having successfully managed large-scale projects, Jo has expertise in partnership working, scoping and delivering government quango and ERDF contracts to meet objectives and planned targets.

Jo is experienced in working with the public sector and SMEs to lead strategic change, and supports the building of relationships with employers to develop opportunities for work experience, employment and graduate recruitment whilst also working on Internship programmes and supporting the Careers team in their employer engagement work.

Holds a first-class BA (Hons) Marketing Management and Distinction in MSc Management and joined Teesside University in 2002

Saeed Muhammad

Saeed holds a first-class BSc (Hons) in Naval Sciences and Engineering, an MSc in Careers Guidance and a PGCE (Teacher Training). Saeed began his career in the Maritime Industry and worked in a number of Naval operational roles for ten years. Saeed later changed his career journey by switching from Maritime to Education sector, and for the last twelve years has worked in Careers, Advice and Guidance roles in several education settings.

Interests include: Supporting students with Career Decision making, Career Options with their Degree, Career Planning/Development, Job Hunting support (including Placements and Graduate Schemes) and Further Education support (including Masters and Doctorate).

Saeed also has extensive experience of supporting International students with their careers aspirations related to applying for a Job or Further Academic Study, either in the UK or home country.

Saeed is primarily working with TUBS, SSED & SCDT students.

Motivated by helping students and graduates to fulfil their potential, whatever their starting point at Teesside. Sue enjoys finding ways to connect students and graduates with employers. Began working at the University as a Careers Adviser in 2008 and now manages the Careers and Employability team (Careers Advisers, Volun-tees and Graduate Recruitment).

JNC Qualified Youth Worker with a BA in Youth Work and Informal Education, Steven developed a successful employability service for homeless young people in central London, before returning to his home town of Middlesbrough, to join the Student Futures Team at Teesside University.

Angela Waldock

Angela Waldock

More about Angela

With a Degree in Chemical Engineering and a PgDip in Environmental Law, Angela started her career with ICI. Also holding a PgCE Angela has spent the greater part of her working life in education; teaching both in FE & HE before taking on non-teaching roles, such as the role of Student Futures Project Manager.

As the Student Futures Project Manager (Prince2 practitioner), Angela has an overview of all the activities and initiatives undertaken by the wider Student Futures team and is committed to enabling students to recognise and fulfil their potential.

Carolyn Whelan

More about Carolyn

Holds a degree in Psychology and Sociology and a postgraduate qualification in Careers Guidance. Joined Teesside University in 2017.

Prior to joining Teesside worked for 15 years in the Careers & Employability Service at Durham University supporting and advising students, graduates, employers of students/graduates and the university.

Previously spent a number of years running a business alongside a career in advice and guidance. Has worked with students in schools and colleges, with unemployed young people and adults and has also advised professional career changers.

Interests include: Connecting students with employers and professionals at events on campus. Supporting and developing the employability, employment prospects and potential of Teesside University students and graduates.

Michaela Young

With a BA (Hons) Business Management degree and currently studying a MBA part-time Michaela joined Teesside University in 2014 as a Business Intern Michaela now supports businesses to take on graduates through graduate placements

Michaela has extensive experience working on ERDF and other funded projects to meet targets and output objectives and her current role involves the co-ordination of the ERDF Graduates for Growth project, which supports Tees Valley businesses in taking on Teesside graduates.
