Cyber security is now a critical part of all areas of industry. You explore a range of information and computer security issues. This course is suitable for non-specialists.

Course overview

You identify a systematic approach to managing security risks, looks at how computers are compromised, what the concept of risk is, and the security triad of confidentiality, integrity and availability.

You learn through weekly pre-recorded content and tasks that can be worked through at your own pace. You also take part in live sessions throughout the course.

This course is delivered online. Please check the entry requirements tab before making your application to ensure you meet the entry criteria and have all the minimum equipment necessary to take part.

You can study up to 30 credits at Winter University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please email winter.university@tees.ac.uk.

If you are under 18 at the time of enrolment you must provide a completed parental consent form. You submit a portfolio of work demonstrating a range of information security and cybercrime principles and techniques.

Minimum hardware requirements
You utilise a virtual computer hosted at Teesside University. You require a typical Windows PC with a 1.6 GHz or faster processor and 4 GB RAM, and a stable broadband connection.

As this is an online course you need access to a computer and be comfortable learning through an online platform. A strong and stable internet connection is required, and a webcam and microphone to participate in any interactive elements of the course.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
