Public Perceptions of Industrial Use of Hydrogen in Teesside

Public Perceptions of Industrial Use of Hydrogen in Teesside

Teesside University and Durham University are working with local authorities and industrial partners to understand how the people of Teesside feel about using hydrogen as an energy source in their community.

Challenge

Hydrogen could play a major role in helping industries in Teesside reduce their carbon emissions. However, there is limited information on how local residents feel about hydrogen being used in their area, especially in terms of safety, environmental impact, and benefits to the community.

Solution

This project will use interviews, focus groups, and surveys to gather opinions from residents, local businesses, and other stakeholders. The aim is to understand what people think about hydrogen technology and to identify any concerns or misconceptions.

Impact

The insights gained from this research will help shape policies and communication strategies, ensuring that the development of a hydrogen economy in Teesside benefits both the local community and the wider environment. By addressing public concerns, the project will support a smoother transition to cleaner energy in the region.
