Course overview
Develop your skills in caring for sick children, supported by a practice-based workbook which you can use in your clinical setting.
Gain the skill set to take a patient’s history, complete examinations, and request and synthesise investigations. This helps aid diagnosis and ensures you can provide appropriate first-line treatment from newborns to young people.
This multi-disciplinary award benefits you professionally as a qualified nurse, paramedic, health visitor, pharmacist or other allied health professional. You must have been qualified for a minimum of two years, and wish to expand your role in areas such as history taking, examination and basic diagnosis of sick infants and children.
You must be practising in a community or acute health care setting that includes care and support for infants, children, and their families. This could be in hospital wards, accident and emergency departments, walk in centres, primary care teams, emergency services or out of hours services.
