Case study: Borderlands

A fantastic example of community outreach is through the Borderlands Creative People and Places Programme, which aims to increase access to and participation in arts and cultural experiences for people living in underserved areas within Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland.

Borderlands

The project draws on the region's rich history and natural beauty and aims to instil a sense of pride within the community. This project is primarily funded by Arts Council England as part of its focus on place based cultural initiatives. It involves collaboration between communities and key cultural organisations in the region demonstrating its commitment to broader, national impact. The project aims to break down barriers to cultural participation in socio-economically deprived areas placing emphasis on co-creation and co design including, cultural collaborators, co-commissioning panels, cultural connectors all ensuring that community voice shapes the direction of the project.
