Case study: Barefoot Kitchen

Barefoot Kitchen CIC is a farm to fork business creating and supporting new micro food structures to ensure resilient systems are available in the future.

Barefoot Kitchen

Connecting communities to farmers, growers, producers it is Barefoot's mission to ensure that good food is available to all. Our work spans across the Tees Valley and into North Yorkshire and are part of the Fix Our Food Commission for Yorkshire.

We invite communities to our beautiful home at Ormesby Hall for shared meals to talk all things food and how best we can get the regions produce to those who currently have no access to it. We also head up the newly formed Food & Drink Tees Valley which is forum for food & drink producers to gain support and training and create unique events that showcase the regions people, places and produce to put us one step further to becoming a national leader in food & drink.

We also work alongside artists and organisations to ensure beautiful food is part of our communities' creativity and will be working this year with the Apple A Day orchard and a local ceramicist to create tableware based on the ancient fruit, blossoms, trees, and wildlife within the orchard.
