We stand by anyone who is experiencing racism, discrimination and prejudice. At a time of ongoing anxiety, we are acutely aware that many across our University community will be experiencing additional worry and distress.
Teesside University always strives to be an inclusive place to work and study, and has a long-standing commitment to equality and diversity. We are a global institution and the diverse nature of our student body is something that we celebrate. We stand against discrimination, harassment and hate crime of any kind and believe it is our collective responsibility to call out these behaviours when we experience them and challenge deep-rooted societal issues.
We acknowledge that there is still work to do to ensure fair and equitable treatment for all. We are listening and trying to understand more about what we at Teesside can do to progress this.
If you do ever experience hate crime, you can report it via our Yes to Respect web page.
The ongoing global health emergency has been shown to disproportionately impact BAME communities. We understand many of you will already be dealing with bereavement or be separated from your families. We are here to support you.
Support is always available from your Students' Union and your Student Life team.
