Practical experience and placements were key components in my first year. I have also learnt the theory of patient-centred care – where everyone should be treated individually, putting the patient first.
I was a bit nervous about coming as an international student initially, but Teesside has a good mix of cultures which made me more comfortable.
There is a mixture of classroom sessions and practical exercises designed to put you in real life scenarios that you work your way through.
Moving from my home country to the UK and adjusting to a new culture while managing my studies at Teesside University has been a significant journey of growth. I developed critical, technical and professional skills, which allowed me to apply what I learned effectively.
The highlight of my student experience has been realising how far I’ve come, something I couldn’t see at the beginning of my studies. I’ve developed skills I never thought I would, from technical tools to problem-solving and critical thinking.
As an international master’s student, the most valuable experience at Teesside has been the facilities. I have had access to the newest industry standard software, and technology.
What I appreciate most about my course is the blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. The modules are designed to be engaging and offer practical placement experience to train on the job while receiving constructive feedback through observations from tutors and mentors.
Teesside is innovative with excellent teaching, and a diverse culture putting students at the heart of everything.
This combination appealed to me as it aligns perfectly with my career aspirations.
