Brothers share degree honours

21 November 2005

Middlesbrough Town Hall has been like a second home to the Lloyd family this week. Steven Lloyd graduated there yesterday with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in E-Business from the University of Teesside and the British Computer Society prize. Older brother Anthony will graduate today with a Master of Science degree in Criminology with distinction, his second Teesside degree.

Both brothers attended each other’s graduations, along with their parents Barbara and Ernest. Steven will score a hat trick of graduations this afternoon, to see his girlfriend Laura Smith collect her BA (Hons) degree in English with Business Studies.

Steven and Anthony have followed in their mother’s footsteps, as she achieved a Master of Business Administration degree from Teesside in 2003. The family live in Acklam, Middlesbrough.

Steven, 21, has also enrolled on a second degree at the University, a Master of Science in Marketing Management. He said: “Anthony and I have always got on really well and play in a five-a-side team together. I applied for the E-Business course based on my Mam’s recommendation of the University and it combines business with new technologies. I know there will be a lot of clapping involved by going to three graduations but I am proud of all our achievements so it will be worth it.”

Anthony, 23, graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Criminology last year and will be awarded a Masters degree today. He has recently begun a PhD in York. Anthony said: “Steven and I are both fairly close, personality wise. The only time we didn’t get on was when we were fighting to use the computer for assignments! So I bought my own. Even though Mam and Dad have to attend two graduations, I think they’re both proud.”
