Paul hits the wall

30 January 2006

Ann Dalkin died of breast cancer in 2003. In memory of Ann, her son Paul is walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Paul Dalkin, 35, from Stanley Co. Durham, is an Information Communications Technology Student Support Officer at the University of Teesside’s School of Health & Social Care.

He is aiming to complete the 84 mile walk in just three days, with no support crew and carrying his own equipment.

He said: “I have always wanted to complete the Hadrian’s Wall walk from coast to coast and this is exactly what I’ll be doing one weekend in May or June. There’s only a small window after the end of the football season and the start of the World Cup, so this narrows my options somewhat!

“I’ve had help from colleagues with my preparation, especially physiotherapy lecturer Julie Sparrow who has given me lots of help. Julie will also be doing some of the walk with me.

“I’d be happy to hear from anyone with any advice about long distance walking or from anyone who is interested in joining me on the trek.”
