Stonewall recognition for Teesside University

Teesside University’s commitment to creating an inclusive working environment has been recognised once again.

The University has been ranked as one of Stonewall’s top 100 employers for the LGBTQ+ community.

Teesside received this plaudit for its overall commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace.

Stonewall, the LGBTQ+ equality charity, annually publishes its list of the top 100 places for LGBTQ+ employees to work across Britain, judged on the way each treats members of staff from the LGBTQ+ community.

Overall, Teesside University has achieved Gold, which is the highest award, and ranked 8th in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers for 2024. This year, 246 organisations made a submission, with Stonewall’s top 100 UK employers recognised for their outstanding efforts in creating an inclusive workplace for their LGBTQ+ employees. Juliet Amos, Executive Director (Human Resources) and Equality & Diversity Champion (LGBTQ+) at Teesside University, said: "We are delighted to once again be recognised in this way, as it reflects the work which continues to be done at the University to provide an inclusive environment, champion equality and celebrate diversity."

Teesside University is committed to embracing diversity and actively opposing prejudice.

The Stonewall, Workplace Equality Index (WEI) is a voluntary tool which allows workplaces to measure their progress in building an inclusive environment for gay, lesbian, bi and trans employees in their UK operations, allowing them to identify the steps they can take to build a more equitable workplace.
