The Impact Lab connects your organisation with our skilled students to collaborate on impactful projects.
Enhance your organisation with fresh perspectives and expertise from our undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, supervised by experienced academic staff.
Whether you'd like us to visit you on-site, meet at our Impact Lab on campus, or connect online, we're flexible and happy to accommodate your needs. Together, we'll discuss your project's timeline, student resources, and guide you through the University's processes to ensure everything runs smoothly.
We would expect you to provide a project brief, which includes a brief background/ rational for the project, the project duration, what question or task you would like the students to work on, and what format the out put at the end of the project should take. This might include for example a poster plus evidence summary, a short report, or other creative methods.
No, this service is provided for free when utilising students in the project delivery. This arrangement is mutually beneficial as it allows students to meet their course related competencies, whilst helping you achieve organisational goals.
As an academic institution we work to an academic calendar. Thus projects tend to commence in late September and late January (depending on their duration). We would usually expect to register project in the months before students commenced their modules, so for example May/ June for a September project, this allows us time to allocate academic and students to the work.
We have a range of student project opportunities available, including those which would include a shorter timescale (e.g. 12 weeks), to those which could last for a longer period e.g. 1 -3 years.
