Call for Proposal

We are delighted to announce the second Animex Research and innovation Conference.

The conference aims to bring together new and established scholars and practitioners from animation, VFX and games to share research in their disciplines.

This year it will be part of the Animex Festival programme to allow you to enjoy the festival. We will be celebrating the 25 years of Animex, bringing together experts in animation, VFX and games from across the world. Visit the Animex website to learn more about the festival.


Topics

We're seeking submissions for proposals for 20-minute conference presentations from across the fields of animation, VFX and games. All topics will be considered but we encourage the following topics:

  • Dynamic simulation
  • Game studies
  • Gesture recognition and motion analysis
  • Graph and network visualisation
  • Inclusive interactive, participatory and immersive approaches
  • Information visualisation
  • Machine learning and AI in animation and games
  • Motion capture and retargeting
  • Motion in sports and rehabilitation systems
  • Multimodal interaction: haptics, sound
  • Practice based research
  • Procedural approaches and behavioural simulation
  • Real-time animation
  • Real-time simulation
  • Serious games and industrial applications
  • User experience and interface
  • Virtual humans and autonomous actors
  • Virtual production
  • Visualisation, virtual reality and augmented reality

Submisson formats

We are accepting proposals for individual 20-minute conference presentations and specialist panels.

20-minute conference presentations: a 300-word abstract and 100-word biographical statement.

Specialist panels: a 300-word panel summary, 300-word abstract (for each paper), and a 100-word biographical statement for each panel member.

Panels contain a maximum of three 20-minute conference papers. Panels provide an opportunity to engage in discussion with each other and the audience and will run for 80 minutes including questions. The chair of the panel must provide the submission requirements on behalf of all panel members.


Timeline submission and acceptance:

Submissions close at midnight on 31 July 2024 and you will be notified of your acceptance by the end of August.
