Business Change, Improvement and Projects

The Business Change, Improvement and Projects (BCIP) Department delivers a step change in University activities and performance, resulting in changes to one or more of the University's structure, infrastructure, systems, culture and processes.

BCIP coordinates key projects through a structured Project Management Framework (PMF), partnering with University departments to enhance project delivery, and user support for achieving strategic objectives. With the integration of Central Systems Development into BCIP, the department will drive major system developments and continuous improvement initiatives to support the University's corporate strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring delivery of the BCIP change programme
  • Delivering the priorities for major systems developments
  • Adapting to evolving business needs, fostering continuous improvement and future-proofing organisational processes
  • Supporting University schools and directorates with 'business as usual' systems support, process improvement and change
  • Embedding a consistent and coordinated approach to project management

The team work closely with Project Sponsors, Leads, Managers and Key Stakeholders through each stage of the University's Project Management Framework, from initial concept, to detailed design, delivery, reporting and evaluation.

The programme is directly linked to delivering the University's five Corporate Aims and covers five key themes:

  • Continuous improvement and target operating model
  • Learning & teaching academic delivery and co-ordination
  • Income diversification
  • Campus life and experience
  • UK and international student recruitment
