Stress Awareness Day 2024

Stress Awareness Day is a national event, that aims to raise awareness of the impact stress can have on an individual’s wellbeing and look at ways to reduce this.

Student and Library Services will be running various events to mark Stress Awareness Day on Wednesday 6 November 2024.

Fika Morning & Self-care boxes Student Life Building, 10:30-12:30
For Stress awareness day we will be creating self-care boxes at our Fika morning. This includes designing and building a self-care box and filling this with helpful tools to promote self-care. Self-care boxes help when you need an uplift and provide you with your very own ‘go-to’ space for when you’re not feeling yourself.

Wellbeing Walk with Brengle meet at Student Life Building, 12:00
Why not come and take a short walk with our Therapy Dog, Brengle, and meet some new people. Meet at Student Life Building Reception at 12 Noon for a 30 minute walk in the local area.

Wellbeing Wednesday Drop in Student Life Building, 12:00-13:00
Come and speak to the Mental Health Advisers and find out about the support that is available to you for your mental health. You will be able to locate the advisers on the Ground floor of the Student Life Building.

'Overflowing Jar’ Exercise Student Life Building, 13:00-14:30
Stress is the natural reaction your body has when changes or challenges occur. Everyone experiences stress from time to time. You can’t avoid it, but stress management techniques can help you deal with it. Why not come along and chat with our Mental Health Advisers to think about what strategies you may use to manage your stress day to day. If you can share with us a coping strategy, you will win a prize!

Mindfulness movement session Student Life Building, 13:30-14:00
A chance to take a break and add some self-care and mindfulness into your day, through gentle yoga and Pilates-based movement and breathwork. Suitable for everyone. No special clothing, equipment or prior experience required.

Stress Awareness Workshop The Curve, T1.07, 14:00-15:00
