Caitlyn has been a student ambassador for three years and she's loving it.
My favourite thing about Teesside is the people. Teesside is a home from home where all the staff, academics and students are very kind and helpful. It makes studying and working really fun and I have made friends for life.
I applied for the student ambassador programme as it was a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the University, other students and prospective students. It has given me valuable experience and skills that I can use in future employment and life, and it has helped to increase my confidence. I wouldn’t be at Teesside University studying this course if it wasn’t for the student ambassadors from Teesside who came to visit my high school – they inspired me and gave me an interest in studying forensic science. I knew then that I wanted to be part of the programme one day and encourage others the way they encouraged me.
I’ve been involved in loads of things. I predominantly take part in crime scene simulation workshops in schools, colleges, and on campus. I’ve also worked at summer school, open days and national events promoting the University. I’ve taken visitors on campus tours too. Plus so much more!
The best part of my role is the opportunities I’ve been given and the reward I feel. I feel rewarded when I help other students and motivate them to study even when they don’t believe in themselves. I feel humbled by the brilliant team I work with and the varied work I partake in. Every day is different and I feel like I make a difference to others which is more rewarding than anything else.
Do it, apply now! It’s probably the best job I’ve ever had. Not just for the wage but for the job itself. It’s so enjoyable and rewarding and anyone who applies will come to realise this very quickly.
My favourite thing about Teesside is the people and the excellent cost of living. Teesside is a home from home where all the staff, academics and students are very kind and helpful. It makes studying and working really fun and I have made friends for life.
The living costs are really cheap – from housing to food and drink and entertainment. The Students’ Union is fantastic, not just for the nightlife but also support to students. I am very sad to be leaving such an amazing place behind, especially the student ambassador scheme to which I am truly honoured to have been a part of.
