Inspired By: The Open Access Collection Store

Take inspiration from objects in MIMA’s Open Access Collection Store and create your own hand-painted silk scarf in this evening workshop. Study the forms, shapes and textures of the ceramic and jewellery objects on display to make preparatory sketches which you paint onto screens and print onto silk.

Course overview

The Open Access Collection Store is a special opportunity to view the entire collection of ceramic and jewellery held within the Middlesbrough Collection. Displayed by production date, the ceramic and jewellery collections illuminate cultural life and artist practices locally, nationally, and globally.

MIMA’s Inspired By workshops are an opportunity to learn a new skill and experiment with creative techniques in an informal setting with guidance from experts from the School of Arts & Creative Industries, Teesside University. They take inspiration from artists and artworks in MIMA’s exhibitions programme and the Middlesbrough Collection.

Part of MIMA Creative Academy, a creative enterprise programme of activities that serves individuals and businesses. Powered by Teesside University's School of Arts & Creative Industries and MIMA.
