Course overview
Throughout the award you develop practical skills in literature searching, critical evaluation and change management. You focus these skills to your own specialist area of practice within the assignment. The award is relevant to any professional working within a health or social care setting who wishes to study at master’s Level.
If a module is not funded through the Health Education England North East (HEE NE) contract you will need to self-fund or seek funding from your sponsor.
Where you study
You have the option to study the award by attending classes at the main Teesside University Campus or to study as a distance learner. You can also opt to undertake a combination of attendance and distance learning.

What you study
Throughout the award you study the different aspects of evidence-based practice which includes how to develop a focused question, how to undertake a structured search, how to critically evaluate research evidence and how to manage and evaluate evidence-based change. You also learn how to write a report.
How you learn
Learning and teaching methods include lectures, seminars, group work, practical work and tutorials. Learning materials for distance learners are provided through the virtual learning environment and include interactive materials and email tutorials.
A formative assessment opportunity is provided at the start of the award to support your learning. The summative assessment is a 4,000 word written report.
