I will be teaching a dynamic course designed for individuals aspiring to pursue careers in childcare and education. My focus will be on key areas such as child development, contemporary issues impacting children today, and exploring global perspectives on children’s experiences.
The culture here is welcoming, organised, and supportive. I’m particularly inspired by the university’s focus on CPD opportunities that help me continually improve my teaching practice.
I’m here to guide students through their studies, offering support on course content, theories, and real-world practices in the children’s workforce. I regularly meet with students, to provide feedback and help them consolidate their learning.
I have over 11 years of experience in education, spanning special educational needs, early years, primary, further education, and international settings. I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and Psychology, a PGCert in Further Education (with QTLS), a master’s in Education, and certifications in Teaching English as a Second Language and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
Teaching internationally has been the most rewarding aspect of my career. It opened my eyes to different cultures, teaching philosophies, and environments, which has made me more open-minded and creative in my teaching approach.
The course provides a holistic understanding of child development, with modules exploring children’s perspectives in local, national, and global contexts. It encourages critical analysis of current and future practices, aiming to develop innovative future practitioners in the childcare and education sectors.
This course offers 100% flexibility, allowing you to study at your own pace, wherever and whenever. It’s perfect for those balancing family life, work, and study. Plus, Teesside’s supportive environment helps you manage your learning alongside your other commitments.
This course is designed for individuals who already hold a foundation degree or higher national diploma in a related field and want to progress to a full degree in Childhood Studies. It supports career advancement or further academic study.
The course is fully online, offering maximum flexibility for students with busy lives. You can pay per module, giving financial flexibility. You also access to the same resources as on-campus students.
After completing the course, you will be well-prepared for roles in education, support work, therapy, and social work, among others, thanks to the practical skills and theoretical knowledge you’ll gain.
