I will be teaching a dynamic course designed for individuals aspiring to pursue careers in childcare and education. My focus will be on key areas such as child development, contemporary issues impacting children today, and exploring global perspectives on children’s experiences.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Teesside University?
The culture here is welcoming, organised, and supportive. I’m particularly inspired by the university’s focus on CPD opportunities that help me continually improve my teaching practice.
How do your students benefit from your experience?
I’m here to guide students through their studies, offering support on course content, theories, and real-world practices in the children’s workforce. I regularly meet with students, to provide feedback and help them consolidate their learning.
Tell us about your career
I have over 11 years of experience in education, spanning special educational needs, early years, primary, further education, and international settings. I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and Psychology, a PGCert in Further Education (with QTLS), a master’s in Education, and certifications in Teaching English as a Second Language and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
Teaching internationally has been the most rewarding aspect of my career. It opened my eyes to different cultures, teaching philosophies, and environments, which has made me more open-minded and creative in my teaching approach.
Tell us about the course you are teaching?
The course provides a holistic understanding of child development, with modules exploring children’s perspectives in local, national, and global contexts. It encourages critical analysis of current and future practices, aiming to develop innovative future practitioners in the childcare and education sectors.
