George, who received an Honorary Doctor of Arts from Teesside University in 2023, is passionate about the way architecture can transform everyday lives and is behind a range of design and property development businesses.

As an ambassador for the Prince’s Foundation, as well as homeless charity Shelter, George is passionate about quality housing. He also founded education charity MOBIE, which aims to inspire young people to create sustainable homes for their future. Through this, he has engaged with Teesside University students to set them design challenges.

Teesside University’s In Conversation event, taking place in London, provides an opportunity to hear from George as he shares insight into his career journey, his passion for design affordability and sustainability, and his lifelong commitment to championing social housing and design innovation.

Teesside University is based in Middlesbrough with a London campus at Here East in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London which opened in September 2023.

Rachael Barker, Assistant Director (Alumni and Fundraising) at Teesside University, said: “This In Conversation event is a unique opportunity to hear from George Clarke about his passion for architecture and how he sees the housing industry develop in the 21st century.

“It promises to be an extremely interesting and entertaining event.

“Our London campus was established in order to create links between the North East and the capital and this is a fantastic opportunity of this mission in action – helping build new networks and opportunities for knowledge exchange.”

Teesside University’s In Conversation series of speakers has included a wide range of people from the worlds of sport, culture, and business who have each made a mark in their respective industries.
