What brought you to study at Teesside University?

After attending a red brick university for a year and not enjoying my experience, I visited an open day at Teesside University and immediately felt more comfortable and motivated. The support from lecturers was something I had not previously experienced and the learning environment was supportive and exactly what I needed to help me to thrive.

What was your course like?

I enjoyed the wide variety of modules in my first two years. It helped me to decide what career I wanted to go into when I graduated, as I was unsure when I first started university.
What stood out for me was the time my lecturers gave to us beyond lectures and seminars. If we needed extra support, we could get it.

What was your favourite module?

My favourite module was Corporate Finance - I had heard this module was difficult, but my lecturer made it enjoyable and so it wasn’t as difficult as anticipated. He always went above and beyond to aid our understanding and ensured that if we put the effort in, it would pay off in the end.

Did you do an industry placement?

I completed a year-long placement after my second year. It was the best decision I made. I learned a lot and believed it helped me to secure my dream graduate job.

What have you done since graduating?

When I first graduated I worked at the company I had my placement at. In September 2017 I started my graduate job as Assurance Graduate at Ernst & Young.

Did your time at Teesside University help you to achieve your goals?

Absolutely - the support system in the university gave me a much needed confidence boost to reach goals I have previously thought were out of my reach. I would definitely recommend Teesside and my course.
