Matt is the regional marketing coordinator for Croda
My postgraduate degree was great and I learnt a large amount of theory that I was able to apply into my full-time job, as I worked alongside studying part time.
I completed my BA (Hons) English Studies at Teesside and worked as a graduate intern in the University’s external relations team. I secured a promotion to a student recruitment assistant position, which fuelled my desire for a career in marketing. After some gap travel time, I decided a postgraduate qualification in marketing would help me fulfil my ambitions.

I enjoyed all elements of the course, but specifically economics. Working in groups on projects created great 'real work life' experience, but I especially enjoyed working in the Marketing Consultancy Clinic.
I applied for and successfully received the Dr Keith Skeoch Scholarship. His generosity gave me such a great opportunity. I would go as far to say that it has had an invaluable impact on my life and career.
I currently work for Croda, a FTSE 100 company, where I’m a Regional Marketing Coordinator, a job I enjoy hugely.
I absolutely believe that the experience I gained from both undergraduate and postgraduate study, paired with my time in employment at the University has helped me achieve what I have to this day and will continue to help me reach my goals.
It’s a fantastic university, with brilliant support and academic staff who will go out of their way to ensure a positive the student experience. I also feel that it is appropriate to mention the hard working staff in the Students’ Union, who work tirelessly to put on great events, support sports and social clubs and of course students who are in need, with the fantastic link services.
