Jan decided to study at Teesside University to experience a new international environment and to discover British higher education.
If you are looking for a university which values each individual student and offers a warm welcome, then I believe Teesside University may be the right place for you.
In the UK I faced a new international environment, but also an environment which allowed me to become more mature. My studies at Teesside offered me the opportunity to view things in a wider way, and understand better what I want to do in the future.
The thing I enjoyed the most about my course was the fact that in every module, the teaching staff were passionate individuals who gave the best possible support to students and ensured their understanding of the subject. Whenever I had issues or problems they were always willing to help.
The Teesside University campus is located in the centre of the city. All the facilities are relatively new and offer a great learning environment, whether in the classroom, or in the library. The University’s utilisation of the Blackboard software system is also great and offers a great online tool to view class content and share documents.
Overall, the learning experience at Teesside helped me to discover a new educational system with high standards. The University gave me the tools and knowledge to face and succeed in new and challenging environments, in a different language.
I am now working in the family business, and I am planning to use my skills to start my own company in the future.
Teesside played an important part in helping me develop my social life when I arrived by doing ice breakers and organising international student meetups. Being abroad is a great opportunity to meet people from different nationalities.
If some international students are worried about not making friends, as Middlesbrough is a small town there are a lot of communities from each nationality which regularly meet up, the University has also a lot of club activities which allow you to practice your hobbies. I was scared at first, but it turned out fine in the end, I was welcomed by everyone, both local and international students, staff and lecturers.
If you are looking for a university which values each individual students and offers a warm welcome, then I believe Teesside University may be the right place for you.
