I started my studies part-time with the Open University, but felt I was missing out on scientific and lab experience and personal contact. The degree content offered by Teesside was appealing, it covered a broad range of areas with interesting lab content and the postgraduate opportunities were comprehensive.
The in-person lecture content. To learn from a professional and knowledgeable team has been positive and expansive. I enjoyed learning about genetics and molecular biology, human disease and immunology, and human ageing and disease.
The facilities on campus are very good, including the Library, Student Futures and Students’ Union. The staff are so helpful with useful advice and guidance.
Middlesbrough offers a student life, with many restaurants, pubs, shops, museums, and student facilities close by.
I worked part-time in a health club and as a medical tattooist.

I have completed my course and gained a first, which I’m delighted about. I have been accepted on to the MSc Diagnostic Radiography course, so I will be continuing my Teesside University journey and can't wait to get started.
Definitely, you gain a broad-based scientific qualification. The facilities are excellent, the National Horizon Centre was a pleasure to visit and experience and the teaching staff are helpful and knowledgeable.
Take advantage of everything the University has to offer and immerse yourself in the student experience.
