Roll up for a charitable evening

03 May 2002

A quartet of University of Teesside students has organised a charity evening to raise funds for the breast unit at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton. The event will take place on Monday 13 May at the Oxbridge Social Club, Sheraton Street, Stockton from 7.30pm-11pm.

The students; Terry Ainsley from Thornaby, Lee Valls and Donna Rogers, both from Stockton, and Jennifer Davison, from Guisborough, are all in the final year of the BA (Hons) degree in Leisure Management. As part of their final year assessment students plan and deliver a chosen event. After consulting with the breast unit at the University Hospital of North Tees, the enterprising team opted to donate towards a new breast reconstruction service.

Terry, 21, said: "We're pleased to be raising funds for such a worthy cause, particularly as the breast unit is hoping to expand its service to include breast reconstruction. We're aiming to raise at least £600."

The evening will cost £3 per ticket and includes:

Bingo
A live band, Silhouette, playing music from the 60s to the present
A raffle, with the first prize - a weekend in Chester and the use of a Mercedes. Other prizes include a signed Middlesbrough FC shirt, signed Middlesbrough FC football, a camera, a meal, and David Lloyd gym membership for a month.

Raffle tickets are available for those who can't attend on the night, at £1 per book of five.
