Middlesbrough Monopoly cover stars reunited

02 December 2006

The special Middlesbrough Monopoly is one of the region’s hottest Christmas presents. And two of its cover stars were reunited at the University of Teesside.

Maria Susairaj, 24, from Mysore in India, graduated last week with an MSc in Management. Her family flew over from India to attend the graduation and Maria made sure that there was a copy of the game waiting for them.

Maria, who also completed a BSc in Computer Studies at the University, said: “Middlesbrough is great! I’ll miss the place when I leave but at least I’ve got a nice reminder with the Monopoly box.

“It was a real surprise when we were asked to pose for the photo on the box and I really didn’t think it would end up being used. I’m really happy I did it and I can’t wait to show it to my parents! Some of my friends have even asked me to sign theirs!”

Katrina Toole, 23, from Lisburn in Northern Ireland, is a BSc Psychology student. She said: “I like the area so much I was thrilled to be asked to pose for the photo and I’m planning to stay after I graduate next year.

“It’s been strange to see myself in shops and in displays. I’ve even been recognised by complete strangers!”
