A Tees –Wear sporting clash!

The student sporting power of the Tees and the Wear will clash on Wednesday 6 December, in the first Varsity Tournament between the Universities of Teesside and Sunderland. The tournament will see a range of competitions, pitting sport societies from the two Universities against each other. These include men and women’s rugby and football, and Gaelic football. The event starts at 1pm and finishes at 3.30pm.

Conor Henry, Societies and Recreation Officer in the University of Teesside’s Students’ Union, said: “Varsity tournaments are a long-established tradition, but this is the first to be hosted by Teesside. The sporting rivalry between ourselves and Sunderland is already strong and this will add to the sense of occasion and excitement.”
