New and returning students will be able to see the chart topper perform hits including Number 1 and Never Leave You when he takes to the stage in the Hub.
The event will also include a bucks fizz reception, carnival games and a close-up magician. Tickets are £15 and are available from the Terrace Bar.
Joining Tinchy Stryder on the bill during freshers are dance favourites Chase and Status, who will perform a DJ set on Tuesday 27 September. Rising star Kissy Sell Out will bring proceedings to a close with a unique performance on Saturday 8 October.
Lori Wheatman, President of the University’s Students' Union, said: ‘It's great to see such big name acts heading to Teesside again this year and we're committed to giving new and returning students the very best freshers period we possibly can.
‘Top quality evening entertainment is a big part of that but so is everything we do through the daytime including advice and support, plus helping students with making new friends and getting involved in new activities.
‘We can't wait to welcome everyone in September, it's going to be a fantastic start to what we hope will be another memorable year at Teesside University Students’ Union.’
