Children celebrate Christmas at Teesside

14 December 2011

Children from Teesside University’s nursery played a role in celebrating Christmas on campus this year.

This year’s celebrations included an afternoon nativity scene in the University’s Brittan Hall. Children of staff and students who are cared for by the nursery took part in the nativity, with a cast of 14 taking on the roles of Mary, Joseph, an angel, the wise men, shepherds, sheep and a donkey.

Along with the nativity scene, the free event included carols, mince pies, tea and coffee.

Teesside University Chaplain, Reverend Andrew Howard, said, 'It reflects a different aspect of our University community, involving children from our own nursery. It’s been a great success and next year we will have both an evening carol service and along the afternoon carols and nativity.

'Local schools, including Archibald and Viewley Hill, have been really helpful in providing costumes and support. Everyone has been really supportive.'
