Leading film Director visits Teesside

British film Director Mark Herman is to visit the University of Teesside on Wednesday 25 April, as part of the Media Industries and Culture Series.

He will be interviewed by Professor Paul Wells, Head of the Media Academic section, followed by a Question and Answer session with the audience. The interview and Q & A session will take place from 1.00-2.00pm in the Main Lecture Theatre, Constantine Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Mark Herman wrote and directed the following films, all set in the North of England :

Brassed Off (1996) starring Ewan McGregor and Tara Fitzgerald.

Little Voice (1999) starring Michael Caine, Jane Horrocks and an Oscar-nominated Brenda Blethyn.

Purely Belter (2000) based on Jonathan Tulloch's novel The Season Ticket, which explored the lives of two young Newcastle FC supporters.

The Lecture series concludes with the following, again on Wednesdays 1.00pm-2.00pm in the same venue.

2 May 2001 Phil Draycott (Television Director) Directing Soap Opera: Eastenders and Emmerdale. Philip has also directed episodes of Coronation Street.

9 May 2001 Caroline Beck (BBC Radio) Producing Radio Features and Documentaries.
