Staff across Teesside University have been donating the spare pennies from their monthly salaries to Be the Change, to help provide grants to local organisations which are nominated by contributors.
Be the Change has already been able to make a positive impact on a wide range of organisations since its launch, helping a range of charities and groups which deliver positive social impact in our local communities.
Community interest company (CIC) Senses Wellbeing was set up to deliver various types of activity including sensory play for children, themed sensory events, fitness classes, exercise sessions and yoga.
Karen Winspear, Director, said: “It’s great to see that the University are aware of what we do and what we offer as an organisation but more importantly that they want to add to our longevity.
“The money we received will fully fund a drumming fitness session we call ‘we will rock you’ which enables 35 children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities to attend an early evening session with parents/carers and more.”
Sue Morgan, Public Events Assistant in Communications and Development, who nominated Sense Wellbeing Skelton, said: “Senses is a huge asset to the local area.
“Karen and the team provide support to the whole community, from young to old with inclusion at the forefront.”
