World Mental Health Day 2024 – Thursday 10th October

World Mental Health Day is about raising awareness of mental health and driving positive change for everyone’s mental health.
The theme this year is ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’.

A number of events will be taking place across the University to mark the occasion:

Recognising burnout and promoting Self-Care– Student Life Building, Ground Floor, 9am-11am
Come along and chat to advisers while making your own self-care box. Self-care boxes are a great tool to help when you need an uplift and provides your very own ‘go-to’ space for when you’re not feeling yourself.

Nutrition Drop-in with Middlesbrough Environment City – Student Life Building, Ground Floor Lounge, 10am-12pm
Promotion of healthy eating and sustainable living using the ten principles of One Planet Living. https://menvcity.org.uk/

Wellbeing Walk with Ember – Student Life Building, Ground Floor, 12pm-12:40pm
Why not come and take a short walk with our Therapy Dog, Ember, and meet some new people.

Tea and Talk – Student Life Building, First Floor Landing, 1pm-3pm
Fancy a cuppa? Why not come along to our Tea and talk event! A space to chat with some of our mental health advisers.

Mindfulness movement session with Hazel – Student Life Building, Ground Floor Lounge, 12:15pm-12:45pm,
Maximum number of spaces 8
Booking required - Please email Studentwellbeing@tees.ac.uk to book onto this.
A chance to take a break and add some self-care and mindfulness into your day, through gentle yoga and Pilates-based movement and breathwork. Suitable for everyone. No special clothing, equipment or prior experience required.

Sleep Drop-in – Student Life Building, Ground Floor Lounge, 1pm-3pm
Come and meet with one of our former students, who is speaking about journaling and how this can help with sleep.
