The University was presented with the accolade of Social Impact Business of the Year at the Tees Valley Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Awards 2024, held in partnership with Tees Valley Combined Authority.
The annual awards bring together individuals, groups and business to recognise and empower diverse communities by celebrating the achievements of champions of diversity, equality and inclusion across the region.
The awards, which were held at Kirkleatham Walled Garden, recognise organisations and people who have helped to advance opportunities for diverse communities and drive positive change.
Colleagues, student ambassadors and members of the Ethnic and Cultural Diversity Focus Group attended the ceremony to represent Teesside University.
Saliah Hameed, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Teesside University, said: “Teesside University is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the Tees Valley, and we are proud to support these awards as they reflect our corporate values and celebrate the dedication of our region’s diverse communities.
“We believe that education has the power to transform lives and economies and the University is fully committed to providing an environment where all our staff and students are supported to fulfil their potential irrespective of their background.
“EDI is embedded across our university community, and we have created a learning and working culture where every individual can feel a sense of belonging.”
