The University is now seeking nominations for inspirational individuals to receive an honorary degree from Teesside at a future graduation ceremony. Awarded in recognition of significant excellence and impact in their chose field, or as one who has made a positive impact to the promotion or development of the Tees Valley region; honorary awards give the University the opportunity to acknowledge people who make a meaningful, positive impact.
Honorary degrees are awarded to a small number of exceptional individuals each year and we’re pleased to invite nominations ahead of the deadline of Thursday 13 February 2025.
This year we are specifically looking to recognise people who have made an impact in the digital and creative sectors. Nominations that reflect our diverse university community are also encouraged.
If you would like to nominate someone, please complete our short nomination form by Thursday 13 February, 5.00pm. Eligibility details are provided.
As a graduate nominating, you will need to detail a person to second your nomination. For this, you will need to connect with a Dean of School or a support service Director. Don’t have an existing connection with a Dean or a Director? Please state Rachael Barker, Assistant Director Alumni and Fundraising as your seconder (email address alumni@tees.ac.uk).
Graduation is a special time of year and last summer, we were pleased to bestow Honorary doctors on philanthropist and social justice champion Lady Diana Brittan DBE, Octopus Energy founder Greg Jackson CBE, businesswoman Sue Kiddle, the founding director emeritus of Yorkshire Sculpture Park Sir Peter Murray CBE, and political adviser Michael Henson.
