Your Personal Tutor is a member of academic staff assigned to each individual student as a main point of contact for academic, pastoral, and professional support.
Your Personal Tutor will reach out to you to introduce themselves at the start of your academic journey and will schedule in regular meetings with you, either in groups or one-to-one.
They are your point of contact for academic or pastoral questions, including those relating to grades, time management and personal development.
They will signpost and refer you to specialist support services, such as the disability team or counselling.
What do I need to do?
Respond to the initial email sent by your Personal Tutor inviting you to a meeting.
Reach out to your Personal Tutor if you have any concerns, questions or need support.
Keep communicating with them during your time at university. The more your tutor knows about your university experience, the more they can help.
For more information on how to prepare for your meetings see How to Prepare.
Using StREAM
What is StREAM and how will used by my Personal Tutor?
StREAM is an online platform that helps you track and monitor your learning, generating an engagement rating that shows how you're doing and what you could do to improve. This tool creates a personalised view of your learning habits, including attendance, card swipes, logins to Blackboard and more. This serves as a conversation starter with your Personal Tutor.
You can access StREAM at any time and see the name and email address of your Personal Tutor, meeting notes and your engagement and attendance rating.
