Student Success is dedicated to supporting students through three key areas, MERIT (maths support), the Student Success team & the Student Journey team. Together, these teams create a friendly and supportive environment that helps students reach their goals and make the most of their time at Teesside.

The team support the student induction process and also offer induction and orientation activity for late starters.

The team engage in meaningful conversations with students, empowering students to actively participate, contribute to and shape their student experiences, it will promote collaboration, empowerment and a student-centred approach to learning.

Student support sessions

The Student Journey team work in collaboration with your school to support students throughout their studies. We are a team of friendly staff who can deal with a wide range of enquiries to help students navigate their support network during their studies.

Student Transitions Entry Poll (STEP)

The Student Journey team manage the co-ordination, delivery and analysis of the pre-arrival survey, STEP, which supports student transitions into and throughout their journey at TU. STEP is delivered via Evasys and is made available to students through welcome emails and the applicant and enrolment portal.

Student Success Programme

The Student Success Programme has three branches: Academic Skills and writing, Numeracy and engaging with wider university life. A bespoke programme of one to one support sessions can be offered to support your students.

Learner analytics

Our Future Facing Learning initiative is revolutionising the way that learning and teaching is taking place across the University. We are committed to using the latest, cutting-edge digital technology to improve the student experience. This includes the use of StREAM, our learner analytics solution to maximise student chances of success and assist Personal Tutors and other key staff in providing additional help and advice if needed.
